Pastor Charles Sundry has been the pastor at LGLC since 2010. He was ordained in the Lutheran church nearly 49 years ago and has since served congregations in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Scottsdale, AZ, Pearl City, Hawaii and Chula Vista, CA before deciding to continue his calling at Lemon Grove Lutheran. His personal theology can be summed up in a quote attributed to the early church father, Irenaeus, “The glory of God is a person fully alive.” Or, inversely, “A person fully alive is the glory of God.”
Two of his favorite Bible verses are:
" No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am
convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor
the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will
be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. "
" Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new
is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us
the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not
counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of
reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his
appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. "
II Cor. 5:17-20
In his free time, Pastor Sundry enjoys travelling and sharing life with Cathie, his wife of 36 years, going to the gym, reading and watching movies.
